No. Tío Tío is an AI learning companion, not a person, priest, or confessor. It can help you learn and ask better questions, but it does not replace confession or spiritual direction.
Is Tío Tío officially connected to the Catholic Church?
No. Tío Tío is an independent project. It has no official endorsement from the Vatican, the USCCB, any diocese, or parish, and it does not speak on behalf of the Church.
What does “The Bible, Illustrated” mean?
It means Tío Tío includes dedicated storybook-style illustrations for many Bible stories, biblical characters, saints, sacraments, prayers, and Catholic topics. It does not mean every Bible verse is illustrated or that the images are official Church art.
What is a real-time illustrated conversation?
It means you can talk by voice or type, receive a live conversational answer, see sources when appropriate, and view a contextual illustration for many faith topics.
Is Tío Tío free?
Yes. Text chat, Sources, and illustrations are free. Voice includes one Daily Voice Visit of up to 5 Active Voice Minutes. No credit card is required.
What does Tío Tío Amigo include?
Tío Tío Amigo is $7.99 per month and includes everything in Free plus 100 additional flexible Active Voice Minutes per Stripe billing period, for longer conversations and follow-up questions. Your free 5-minute Daily Voice Visit stays included every day — the 100 minutes are added on top of it. Unused minutes do not roll over.
What are Active Voice Minutes?
They count only while you or Tío Tío are speaking. Silence, connection time, reading sources, and illustration loading do not count.
Does Tío Tío store voice recordings?
Raw audio is not stored. Conversations are processed to generate replies. Avoid sharing passwords, ID numbers, medical records, or highly sensitive personal data.
What Catholic sources does Tío Tío use?
It uses public-domain Catholic sources and link-only references to modern official sources where appropriate: the Douay-Rheims Bible, the Baltimore Catechism and Kinkead, the Roman Catechism, selected 1913 Catholic Encyclopedia material, and official reference links. It does not invent citations or paragraphs.
Can Tío Tío help with confession or serious spiritual questions?
It can explain what confession is and help you prepare to speak with a priest, but it does not replace confession, the sacraments, or spiritual direction. For those, turn to a priest or your parish.
Can Tío Tío help in a crisis or emergency?
No. Tío Tío is not an emergency or mental-health service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services or a qualified professional right away.
Does Tío Tío work in Spanish and English?
Yes. Tío Tío is Spanish-first and also works in English, by voice or text. You can switch languages anytime.
Can I cancel Amigo?
Yes. You can cancel or manage your subscription anytime through Stripe billing settings.
